A law abiding teenager disclosed his father’s drug business, leading to discovery of 200 grams of illegal drugs estimated to be worth Ksh 850,000 (US$ 8,500). The unnamed boy reportedly called the police and informed them that he had spotted his 41-year-old father, Mr Yamil Mercado, handling some illegal products.

The boy said , “I think my father is selling some drugs, and it’s illegal,” the boy told Massachusetts police, who without hesitation swung into action ,the authorities arrested Mr Mercado after they unearthed 200 grams of drugs was hidden in his luggage.

The massachusetts police said “This wouldn’t have been possible if it was not for the boy’s bold action. We are very proud of him. He is a hero,”

It emerged that this was not the first time the teenage boy has reported his dad. About a year ago, he had called Department of Children and Families to raise the same issue. Mr Mercado has reportedly pleaded not guilty. His brave son now stays with a relative as his father’s case gathers momentum.
