the media houses descended at the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court this morning ahead of the first appearance of the man alleged of killing Karabo Mokoena.
The suspected man, is believed to be her boyfriend, is accused of killing and burning her body beyond recognition.
Mokoena had been missing since friday April 28, her disappearance was announced on facebook which become the subject of social media trend .

Her charred remains were found the following day in a veld but no one knew who she was so her family continued to be in the dark regarding her whereabouts.
Yesterday, her uncle, Tshepo, wrote a Facebook post alleging his niece’s boyfriend had confessed to killing and burning Mokoena.

Speaking outside the court ahead of the appearance this morning, Denise Robinson- Shadow minister for Women in the Presidency- said they were there to support the family.
She said :”My colleague and I are here to stand up for the rights of women and to call for justice,”
“We’re also here because we believe our justice system is letting our women down,”

Robinson further added that while they welcomed Patrick Wisani 20 year sentence, they wished he had shown remorse. Wisani is a former ANC Youth League leader who sjambokked his girlfriend to death last year.
Robinson said such cases highlighted the need for sexual and gender violence cases to be prioritised.

Karabo Mokoena, she was very passionate about working with women and spending time with ladies, to hear their stories while sharing her journey, wrote by the organisation.
