Nigerian famous rapper, Chibuzor Nelson Azubuike, popularly known by his stage name as Phyno released his album “The playmaker” the standout tracks were “Pino-Pino”, “Connect” and “Fada-Fada.”
months after, a new track from the album which many never gave listening time, has dominated conversation within the mainstream music circle.
The track “I am a fan” caught a life of its own after it became the subject of dispute.
It all started on Friday, May 26, 2017,when an American singer, Pia Mia released a new single titled “I’m a fan” featuring singer, Jeremiah and produced by American beat maker “Remo.”
things about her new song was, it didn’t only just share the same title with Phyno’s 2016 track, on basic inspection, it was pretty much the same song.
The playmaker album profiles Phyno’s version as featuring fast rising singer Mr Eazi, and another relative newcomer Decarlo, produced by Lagos-based producer Benjamz.
Monday, May 29, 2017, Pia Mia became the object of the day on Nigerian social media, as Phyno fans jumped on the back of the 20-year-old singer for allegedly “hijacked” the song of a Nigerian superstar.
The story, took a new dimension as fresh fact began to emerge about the Singer concerning ownership of the track “I’m a fan.”
Validity reports suggest that Phyno got in contact with Americans Jeremiah singer and producer Remo while creating his sophomore album and that was when the track “I am a fan” was first created.
Along the line, unity wasn’t reached between them, and there both parted their ways, later, Phyno got Mr Eazi, Decarlo and Benjamz to complete the track for him, while Remo offered the track to singer Pia Mia.
although, Phyno has refused to say anything about the ongoing drama ,but it is yet unclear who owns the song.”I’M A FAN”
